Default taking an engine out...

I was just wondering how hard it is to take out the engine and transmission out of a Neon?

from what ive heard, its not that hard, but i would recommend unbolting the engine from the tranny and taking them out separately

with the way your car is in 95 its just as easy to go ether way. its preaty easy i would just suggest keeping all your bolts seperated with the parts taking it out should take about 2 to 4 hours just be patient with it.

take it all out through the hood in one unit.....
unbolt the 2 bolts on the passenger mount that hold the mount to the frame rail
unbolt the tranny mount
remove the battery and tray
remove the radiator and fans
remove the axels
unbolt the front mount
unplug the wire harness clips from under the PDC
unbolt the exhaust manifold flange bolts
unbolt the power steering resivoir
unplug the downstream 02 sensor
thats about it

i can pull a neon in the garage and have the motor and tranny out within about 2-3 hours.....depending if sumone is there bothering me or not

it is the easiest to pull it as one unit.....it isnt hard removing the engine and leave the tranny in the car....i actually almost prefer doing it that way anymore.....but if you plan on having the car sitting for a while then i would deffinately remove it as one unit

Alright, dont mean to steal this post but...

Doing the SRT-4 swap.. would you recommend leaving the tranny in when I go to swap? Or would it be easier just to take it out too?

neoncrazy: since the car will be sitting pull the tranny too....otherwise it will have to be up on jackstands in the car...

neonrt: take the tranny out for the srt swap....then it will be easier to allign the tranny with the motor
