mileage record for 06 Neon?
I've got 211K on my 96 Neon Highline. It got a new engine out of a Tijuana junkyard at 51K when I smashed up the front end; the replacement had 35K on it at the time so doing the math that's about 195 on that engine. Still has the original transmission and the clutch was replaced at about 180K. Whenever I bring it in for repairs/maintenance the mechanics marvel at it: "Hey, you gotta check this out, a Neon with 200 thousand miles on it!" "No way." "Yeah, and listen to the engine, man..." "I don't believe it."
I am told this outrageous longevity may be due to its manufacture at the Toluca MX plant rather than Illinois. Anybody seen any stats on relative life-span of Mexican vs. American specimens of this product line? Or anecdotal knowledge which might tend to confirm/debunk this speculation?
And more importantly, anybody have a Neon of this vintage that will beat this mileage total? At the moment I'm still using this as my primary vehicle until I have a good reason to buy something else, but when I do I will almost certainly just hold onto it as a driveway fix-it project as it will be worth less than nothing at that point and I'm wondering if I've got a realistic shot at some sort of record?

and we get the same thing
"how did you get this car to last so long?"
and all that jazz...
