Where can I find the identification numbers on my transmission? The white label on the front of the transmission is rubbed off and only has the numbers 088 016 on the top of the label. these numbers are the only numbers I can see.
Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
In my 95 dodge neon I had the engine and transmission changed and dont even know which year the motor or transmission is.

Yes, but the 95 DOHC also has the 0.81 fifth gear.

That just seems really lame, unless there is really that much difference between the .72 FD and .81FD. Something new learned nontheless.

oh yea 3500 rpm at 70mph, love it, lol, theres not much different between .81 and .72, few hundred RPM is about it, between a 3.55 from a SOHC and a 3.94 from a DOHC average is around 500 RPM difference in speed vs. rpm. it varies between gears and differnet RPM in each gear, but thats about what you get, if you drive in heavy traffic i would think the 3.94 would be a better choice for less clutch slipping and quicker acceleration

Look on the very end of the gear box. You'll need to turn your driver's side tire to the left to view it. Brin ga paper towl as it should asoiled.
