Default clunking noise in rear end

I am new to the Neons and also to the forum so please don't beat me up to bad. One of my Neons is making a clunking noise in the rear end. I happens all the time when going over any type of bump. I am thinking it is probably in need of some rear shocks, but not sure. Whenever I put anything in the trunk that weights it down a little bit the noise stops. I have another Neon that does not have this noise. They are both nearly identical 96 Neons. The strangest color too........magenta I think Dodge calls it, but I call it purple.

Any help with the noise?

your in need of some rear struts my friend......or your rear strut mounts might be bad, but you will have to take the strut off to check.....

probally save you hastle down the road and get both the struts and new mounts
