Neon running funny....got 4 codes
Hello, Im new to these forums, but Im very impressed with what I have seen so far.
Im hoping to get some advice on why my neon is running like it does sometimes. It does this outta the blue, engine warm or cold. The car will start to bog, as if its starving for gas, or the timing is off.The idle feels rough when it does it, and there is a very noticable differance in the way the engine revs.It seems like something is holding it back, has very little power...but If I floor it, it seems to break free and revs right up.
I have had my cat and exhaust tested, so I know those are fine. The shop also tested the codes, and came up with these.
p0340 Cam pos sensor circuit "a" ( I replaced the cam sensor less than 2 yrs ago, and I had to cut wires because dodge changed the wire harness on it, wires are soldered and heat shrink tubing on them)
p0352 Ign coil "B" Prim/second circuit ( never replaced coil, but tested a year ago with voltmeter, was right on for resistance.)
p0138 O2 sensor circuit high voltage bis2 (I only have 1 o2 sensor plugged it, the one right before the cat, I was told the mp pcm did not read the 2nd o2 sensor, so I could unplug..its been unplugged for 2 yrs+)
p1294 Target Idle RPM not reached ( I have replaced the idle air sensor at least once...I guess it could go bad again...)
I have checked all over for any kind of vacuuam leaks, and have not found anything, the shop suggested resetting the pcm, and see what codes come up first.I just wanted to see what the experts here had to say..
Thanks for reading

have u tried cleaning your TB? like theres a opening in it on the side (i totally forget what its called though) and if that gets dirty enough it can affect the idle...not sure if it works though but its just what i've heard. also for your bogging down have u checked your fuel pressure? cause my Neon was bogging down for a while and the code that tells u if the cat went bad or not came on so i was thinking it was that till a week ago when my fuel pump went... and since your cat. is good then u might want to check your fuel pressure.

It could be something to do with my fuel pressure. But it only does it once in a while....maybe clogged fuel filter.? Also I havent done anything with the injectors, maybe an injector could be clogging up..? Allthough I have ran cleaner thru it about every 3-4 oil changes..
My throttle body should be clean, about 3 months ago, I bored out my intake manifold to match my 55mm bored tb, everything looked clean in there at that time.
Thx for the fast responce..Keep the ideas coming...

thats why i say check your timing belt. My moms stratus ran just like you are saying your neon is running. everyone swore it was a fuel problem, replaced all sorts of parts...etc. I got to it, opened the timing belt cover and it was about to fall off it was so loose. I guess the sputtering was from the slack in the belt, or skipping teeth. That would cause the ignition code. anyway, i changed the belt and it runs like a champ now.
It might not be, but its happened to me, and it only takes a few seconds to look at it and make sure its tight. and its free to check, so you might wanna do that before you go out and buy all sorts of parts.

Well, the timing belt broke on me about a year or so ago.It let go while I was going down road.I had to buy a new tb cover it was so bad inside there. It was actually the 3rd time I have put a timing belt on it,(because of hg job, and a friend who put timing belt on wrong) the tensioner and everything has been replaced.I will look thru the hole on top, to make sure the belt is nice and tight though.
It was giving me the same problem last night while driving it.I get the problem to go away by pumping gas a few times.Im hoping its just a fuel filter.I talked with my dad about fuel filters a while ago, and I thought he said that If a fuel filter gets clogged, a lot of them have a bypass, so you would still be getting fuel.....any truth to that.?
So far Im guessing the codes are probably coming from some other problem...like maybe when Im not getting enough fuel to a cylinder, it misfires in that cylinder, and thats what the pcm is picking up..I dunno, so many sensors nowadays...
Thanks again for all the replies, I am checking everything people say..
