hey everyone I have a 98 neon automatic.with 88thousand on the motor and trans.i am wanting to put a 5 speed in it.wanna know how much work it is to put one in and what im all gonna need?my brother gave me his srt-4 trubo and the intercooler cause he bought bigger and better for his.I have an option to put htat on but i donno what i should do.Also what are some good mods that i should do with a budget of 350 dollars right now?what should i buy?i am only 15 years old but ive been around racing my whole life.once i get 16 i wanna have a car that will run13.50's in the 1/4.money isnt really a problem.Also were can i get a ice man cold air intake?cannot find one anywere.is anyone selling one?well thanks for all your help...

 

for the iceman they dont make them anymore, but u might be able to find someone who is selling one or you can make your own for like $50 or so. for the 5speed just gotta find yourself a transmission and swap them, i'm not sure though if u'll need to find a PCM from a mtx Neon or not though...

 

if your gonna drag you can leave it atx and get those number td04s love the long gear. however the iceman and the turbo dont mix

 

Not to mention all the work that you will have to do to get that engine ready to handle turbo and run a turbo. Its not just slapping on a turbo and intercooler.. It will probably take you that turbo though to get you to 13.5 1/4 mile times...

 

maybe a performancebottom end rebuild if you plan on driving the car for a long time.(forged rods, pistons, etc)

 

so what would all of your recomendations on what to do.it is an automatic now.i kinda wanna keep it that way beep up the tranny.better torqeconverter.so what would you guys buy perfromance wise with about 350 dollars.it is a stock neon a aftermarket cheap exaust.automatic.body kit.fiberglass hood.and thats all.the body has 130 thousand miles on it.the motor and trans has around 88 thousand miles on it.and is anyone from ohio area?well thanks for all your help i highly appreciate it.thanks

 

stock motors car run the turbos alright at low boost......keep in mind that mine now has 153,000 on the stock bottom end

 

so wut would you do if you were in my situation.with about 300 dollars now what would you buy?i dont getta job until summer time.should i keep it an automatic if i turbo it?i kno ima only be able to run only like 7psi boost.or should i just make it an all motor car.my buddy has a 98 neon r/t that runs 14.20's in the 1/4 all motor.just bolt on's.will sum1 please help me out thanks.

 

ive thought many times lately of selling my turbo kit and using the money to build the motor naturally aspirated......but im still debating.....

first thing you can always do is keep the auto tranny in there and just get a performance valve body (shift kit)

 

wut kinda times do you think ill run in 1/4 with a stock srt-4 turbo ar low boost.
