Default A few questions !!!

hi, i have an 1996 dodge neon 4 doors and my timing belt keeps on slipping and i want to tighten it but i dont want to take of parts if it is not necesary u know so i wud like to know a step by step or something simmeler to that so i can do it my self. and another question that came to my mind is does anybody know if the parts on ebay for the 1996 dodge neon are any good or are they worthless parts ???

this is all til now tomorow i need some info with an pic of my engine cuz im not shure if i have an dohc or an sohc its says dohc on the plestic thing but id like to know if it is realy an dohc or does anybody know how i can double check if it is an dohc ???

To get to the timing tensioner, you need to support the engine and take off that engine mount.

You have to be able to remove the timing cover bascially.

Parts on ebay could be legit or they might not be. Feedback is somewhat of an indicator.

If it says DOHC, it probably is. A bulge in your hood will mean DOHC, if its uniform the hood, its a SOHC.

im so sorry but i meant the altenator belt en airco belt, need an answer asap so i can get that fixed tomorow

Thats not always the case. Some SOHC's came with the power bulge hood from the factory.

There is an adjusting screw that you can tighten. See the pic below. I'd also suggest picking up a Haynes manual to help you in the future.

speaking of which once you get a CAI you can get a hood from a soch right?

Not really. The reason for the bulge hood is to clear the extra cam gear that the DOHC has. You can put a SOHC hood on a DOHC, but you may need to cut some of the hood bracing out. I had to, but i know other didn't.
