im new
hey guys, my name is sean, this is my first post
i aint never been here before, but 1 of my friends is an avid member here..
anyways, a lil background about me, i have a 2002 ford f150 v6, thats turbo charged with a fully built motor, runnin 18lbs of boost, i do not know much about dodges that much, but am extremely knowledgeable about fords
i bought a 95 sohc neon as my beater car and as a project car
i just recently did a tune up on it.. new battery, plugs, wires, filter, and replaced teh battery terminals
she starts up like a charm, but when i open the hood, and rev it for a little bit, i noticed there is some smoke coming from behind the valve cover, i read a little bit that these cars have a had gasket problem ( like teh 97-98 4.2/3.8 fords) the smoke looks like its coming from the valve cover gasket, but not too sure.. and also smoke is coming out of the muffler
any idea as to where teh smoke is coming from, and also, i have about 140,000 miles on it, would it be a good idea to put some seafoam in there to clean out the fuel system/engine?

First of all welcome.
Yes the 1st gen neons are notorious for HG failure, but having a 95 with that many miles I would assume it's been upgraded already to the MLS HG. You can check to see if it has the MLS. Look behind the intake manifold between cylinders 1 and 2 to where the head meets the block. If you have an MLS head gasket you'll see a rounded metal tab with a rivet in the middle.
You may just be leaking some oil from the valve cover gasket causing the smoke. Seafoam may not be a bad idea.
What color is the smoke coming from the muffler?

Before assuming it’s a head gasket check the camshaft sensor seal, the valve cover and the oil sender unit.
As far as the exhaust smoke, the 95’s had some PCV valve issues. The rubber hoses on mine were deteriorating and crumbling particles of rubber were sticking in the PCV valve as well the PVC oil separator on the 95’s is troublesome. It was using a lot of oil and blue exhaust smoke. I changed the PVC valve and hoses then added a can of Wynn’s engine tune (basically a solvent) to help flush out the oil separator. The problem totally disappeared and I went from adding oil every few hundred miles back 3000 mile oil changes without adding.

ya my pcv hose underneath the intake manifold is completely deteriorated.. i need to get a new pcv and a new hose.. for sure.. but i doubt the smoking from he engine bay is from the pcv... mainly because its on the opposite side of the bay

When the head gasket went on mine it leaked down the rear driver-side of the block (that is where they normally leak), nowhere near the exhaust, the camshaft seal and oil sender are also in that same general area. I would suggest the valve cover gasket to check first.

Welcome!
Continue to check your oil levels and see if you see an unusual "dropage"
