i need help on what engine i need to swap with my dodge neon 1995
i was thinking on using a magnum 2002
but am not sure if that is the best engine to swap it with
and plus im short on money so ideas???

whats your budget...and whats your goals peformance wise for the engine?

that 2002 motor isnt gonna just swap right in....and it might be a little more difficult to find a magnum motor......

 

i dont have any skills but thats why i have my family for.
budget wise i have around 2,000
what i want to do perfomance wise get as much hp w/o a turbo kit. also to beat anelicpse.

 

Hmmm with a good driver in the neon you should be able to Keep up and/or beat the elicpse, unless its a GTS

 

well if you are planning on an all motor....just rebuild the engine you have with high comp pistons/forged rods, etc.....and do some head work...bigger valves, cams, port and polish....and aaftermarket intake manifold would help too. headers....good exhaust system.....strong clutch...should put you well over the 200hp range.

 

okay thanks and yes i can keep up with the eclipse but in the end my car just overheats.

Oh and one last question how can you tell if your car is a DOHC or SOHC??

 

The 8th digit in the VIN number will be a C if its a SOHC and a Y if its a DOHC.

and for the overheating. does it do any other time or just when your racing or running her hard?

 

If it does it running it hard, its time for a new radiator i bet, very common problem
