Default 98 neon ?'s

Whats up everyone, i'm new to this forum, my names Paul and i have a 1998 Plymouth Neon 4dr SOHC ATX. Well lately the CEL light has been on and i finally got around to checking the codes and it gave me code32 EGR system failure. Yesturday i was searching the web for the egr valve and found this Mopar Performance EGR Block Off Kit off modernperformance.comand was wondering if it would be worth it to put on the neon or should i just buy the egr valve?

During idle the carmakes a knocking noise coming from the head sounds like the car is running without oil, but i could just change the oil and filter and it will still knock. My momz said it was prolly a lifter or a few that just came lose and needed to be tightend, any1 know what it might be?

Can u put a boble strut on an ATX?

Thanks,
Paul

If you have emissions check, you don't want to block it off. If you don't, then feel free. It won't increase or decrease the performance of your engine, but may help keep your throttle body and intake manifold cleaner.

A knock is different from a lifter tick. Does it increase with RPM's? Does it go away after the car warms up?

Why would you want to?

Ticking is the lifter 99% of the time.

not without custum fabricating some brackets.....the cars that come with a MTX have the strut mount right on the cross member, the on an ATX the trans is so much larger that the trans would actually smash into the bracket....and, due to the shape of the trans, you will have to make a bracket that will bolt to the back of the tranny and find a different spot to mount it on the cross member...

honestly, the bobble strut wont make any difference on an ATX

I didn't know so i just thought i would ask wasn't planning on buying it, i wouldn't like the vibrations.

I guess it would be ticking than, but it does it cold and when it warms up. If u get on it and give it gas the ticking gets louder.

Im not sure if we have emissions here in TX, but i don't think we do.

An EGR blockoff doesn't add vibrations to the car.

Probably lifter tick then.

If you live in Houston, then you do.
