Piston 4 knock (i tnink)
hey all,
i was thinking about ripping my engine apart ... again... i believe my #4 piston is knockin... not sure yet whether its the rod itself, the pin, or if the piston is just slappin that much. ive replaced the crank and the bearings all around... I was thinking about getting new rods, rings, and pistons, and i was thinking about maybe going to .20 .... any opinions?

Honestly im not to sure what i wanted to do with the motor yet.. I dont believe i will go turbo as of right now.. maybe on another motor ill build up i will.. so for now i was thinking about maybe going high compression with hitting NOS every once in awhile. I was thinking about going with hypereutectic pistons for a little extra strength, and seeing as how i cant afford JE pistons at the moment. I could probably go with eagle rods though, have not found to much in the rod market to be honest.
Ive already changed the rod and main bearings, the crank, the heads rebuilt also.. everyone thats listened to my car says sounds like the sound is coming from the farthest right of the engine. course it is hard to tell for sure since it kinda echos ....the car has had the knock even after i rebuilt everything.. pistons and rods are the only thing i havent touched.

what are hypereutectic pistons? never heard of those before..if you are planning on using nitrous, u mine as well do the build right the first time so you wont have to go back and tear it down again if it blows....at first i was gonna boost on stock internals....but as soon as spudsterier's car messed up....i changed my mind and decided to spend the $750 on the pistons and rods....alot of $$ yea....but it will pay off in the long run.
the far right of the car, would be farthest away from the transmission, and #1. drivers side is #4.
hypertutectic pistons are in between stock cast, and forged. They hold up pretty well, but i dont think they like alot of nitrous.

you can tell buy pulling the plug wire and raising the idle by the thottle body to find out which cylinder it that is knocking.i found out that my problem was the wrist pin in the #1cylinder.and had to pull the motor out.just a suggestion that is what i was told by a dodge mechanic
