New Battery, Still no Start
Put a new battery in today, it now cranks faster but still wont start. I dont think it is the starter because after it cranks and stops you can still hear the starter weezing. Any help is appreciated, this damn thing is driving me nuts. [&o]Thanks.

I hadput abrand new battery in it when I purchased it, it ran great for a couple of months. After it sat for a weekend I went to start it on monday andit just cranked and wouldnt start. So I traded the newish bat for a brand new one last night. When it was running there was some slipping in the tranny, but other than that it seemed to run fine. And yes, the check engine light is on. When I baught it the owner said they took it in and the shop couldnt figure out what was wrong so they figured it was a short. I thought no big, probably an o2 censor?

thats probably not a short......your engine is throwing a code...u gotta get that diagnostics scanner thing from auto zone or advance so see which code it is.
You could have read the codes with the check engine light flashes but now that the battery has been disconnected the pcm will be cleared so even a code reader probably won't show anything.
Check your fuel pressure and for spark. Also fuse 21 20A in the power distribution panel under the hood. Fuse 21 is labeled fuel pump but also powers the pcm, injectors, O2 sensors, coil pack etc.

I checked all fuses in the fuse box behind the battery, all are well. Next step is spark, does anyone think it could be the alternater? The reason I think it could be is I had a brand new bat in it for 2 months and it ran great, went to start it after it sat for a weekend and it was seemingly dead. I checked connections and hooked up my wifes car to jump it, and it ALMOST started. Now it wont even come close, what do you guys think?

I wouldn’t think it’s the alternator, if it was it should still start when boosted or while the battery is charged. There are two relays one for the fuel pump and one for the auto shutdown, try swapping these one at a time with a non required system like the horn or a/c relay. When you turn the ignition on listen for the fuel pump to build pressure you should be able to hear it run for a few seconds (it would be best to check the fuel pressure). You also need to check for spark. By the way what year is it?
well if ya said the fuses were good maybe some bad fuel i dont know wher eyou live maybe the lines are frozen. . . but it dont seem to be that cold in the states now possably some water in the lines if the spark works and you can hear the fuel pump check relays like its stated above .
it would still run untill the battery diedif the alternater was bad.
