Default How do I get the CAM Bolt off?

I was looking at this job yesterday and I can't see how to get the bolt out of the end of the camshaft without turning it. Would a strap wrench and an impact wrench work?

On the SOHC, there are two 8mm bolts under the gear that hold the inner cover to the head. Grab an 8mm 1/4"-drive socket and put it on a screwdriver-type handle. You're going to use this for leverage to keep the gear from turning. Also grab an 18mm socket for the cam gear bolt. See the pic below. It's tight, pull hard! Remove that 18mm bolt and the gear slides right off by hand.

impact wrench will work great, but you can also hold the gear still with a pair of channel locks or wrap the belt around the gear and hold it while loosening the bolt

Impact wrench is what I used, came off in seconds
Glad I invested in that tool

Thanks for the replies. An impact wrench and an air ratchet are a necessity when doing this work. Ironically, I removed the one 8mm bolt I could have used to hold the wheel steady. I didn't even think of that when I was doing it. It sounds like the strap wrench and impact will work though.
