Default 4k rev limit????

well i got to taking my work car for a drive today...finally....and it still wont rev past 4k-4,500k
i thought it was the pcm since it was from an auto.....so i threw the pcm out of my r/t in it....but it still has the low rev limit.......i just cant figure out why[:@]
when im driving the car normally it will rev fine until it hits about 4k-4.5k....then the motor acts like a rev limiter is kicking in......and it happens in every gear except neutral......im just kinda tired of it and want it fixed, but the only rev limiter is in the pcm and thats not where the problem is at....
what is it???...any one else know of this problem????????

I assume you don't have any engine codes.
Have you checked the fuel pressure?
Possibly a bad coil pack.

Possibilities are the VSS and the O2 sensor. I'd check the wiring and gear on the VSS first though.

my main worry about itwas the fuel pump....the metal tank pumps has to be the only thing im unsure about when it comes to neons and i had to re run most of the lines to and from the filter and pump.....

but i will check the VSS this afternoon....the speedometer atleast works correctly, but its a bit off since the previouse owner put some big *** 195/70's on the car[&:]

then last nite on the test drive my heat stopped working.....i just gotta take out the blower motor and remove whatever is jammed in it and stopping it from working[:@]

if the vehicle speed is right on the o'dometer ( aside of those big *** tires ) then the vss wouldnt be the problem sence this is a stick tranny. weird though, that it still revs up in N. i also imagine that it will rev up in gear with the clutch dissengaged. so we know that this problem is caused when the engine is under a load. it would be intersting to put it up on jack stands ( unless u have a hoist ) with the front wheels off the ground and run it. see if the problem is caused by something other than the body's weight at those rpm's. i personally would expect either a fuel delivery issue or an ignition issue. like maybe ur getting a weak spark.
