Default help...

so today i started my car..and it didnt do the normal little rev then go down down. it reved to about 500 and sputter a bit, for a few seconds (5-10). then it was idling at 1000 (which is normal) but i let it sit for a few more seocnds to see what was going on and about ever 5 second it seems like the raditor kicks on and then goes right back off. and as the rad. turns on the car revs a little then goes right back to 1000. and that happens about every five seconds.

no im not getting any codes, although like last month i was getting a 32 and i still have not got the money to get the egr fixed. but the CEL is off now, and it is still doing all that stuff i just talked about.

so anyclue on what it could be would help a lot, thanks

So the fans aren't staying on? Is the temp gauge working properly?

The temp gauge in on the cluster.

You may have to change your fan relay.

you either got the defrost on, OR you coolant temp sensor could possibly be bad, but not far enough out of whack to light the CEL
If the AC charge is low especially it'll go on& off everyfew seconds with defrost on.
look and see if the AC compressor is running on & off along with the fans

You might want to look at recall # RC76998. It has to do with the fan relay and installing a jumper wire.
Also TSB184798.

You can find both of these on the .org or dodge.com websites. If you go to the dodge website go to recalls and type in the last eight digits of your VIN and it will tell you any recalls that apply to your vehicle.

im pretty sure its what Racerx said, with the deforst and the ac charge being low. becuase the ac does goes on and off with the fans.

so should i just recharge the ac and possibly a new temp sensor ?

and Das, the temp gauge on the cluster is fine, its at where it normally is. i thought you ment the temp sensor, sorry

You can eliminate the A/C being on when in the defrost mode by drilling one little hole in themetal run on the heater control panel. This especially helps in the winter withfuel mileage.

Contact: Duke Wilford wil4ds@ix.netcom.com
Project: Defeat automatic A/C when defrost is selected. A/C can still be used during defrost by switching fan to blue dots when desired.

Time and Difficulty: About 10 minutes. Couldn't be easier.
[ol][*]Remove your cigarette lighter and open the ashtray. Put your fingers under the top lip of the ashtray opening and gently pull. The whole bezel surrounding the radio and heater controls should pop off.[*]Remove the heater/defrost select **** and its white backing piece. These just pull off and are keyed to maintain alignment so don't worry.[*]Just above and to the left of the **** shaft are three ribbons of metal about an 1/8 inch wide. Drill a hole through the lowest one, making sure to sever it completely without cutting the one above it.[*]Put the **** back on and line up the bezel. There are locating posts that you should be careful are aligned. Nudge the clips back into place and reinstall lighter.[*]Voila. I despise machines that think too much for me. I'm perfectly capable of making my own decision on when I need A/C; now you can too. This was one of the first things I did when the mornings got cool because the A/C puts such a noticeable load on the motor. [/ol]

^^^ One of the first things I do when I get a new neon.

I recognize that write-up also.
