Sorry to hijack.
Would missing bushings cause the trans to pop out of 5th? My wifes neon just "pops" out of gear. There is positive engagment but it feels there nothing holding it in gear.

Srt4 neon booger bushings

Should the linkage have play where the bushings seat onto the linkage? Finding issues pressing it down right but the bushing keeps wanting to not go in all the way?
