CEL + err code makes no sense
Took it to mechanic, they scanned and said the code says Radiator Fan Relay. Fine.
Got another relay from junkyard, installed, same deal: CEL still on. with A/C on, radiator fans dont spin.
I wonder if its actually something else, because
A) I've gone thru several bad fan relays (that i replaced personally), and NEVER had CEL come on because of that.
B) The junkyard relay didnt make any difference. What are the odds of picking a bad relay out of 6 Neons they had there?
Any suggestions what to check?
Is there an easy way to hot-wire the fans directly, just to see if they work?

Hey das. Did't some of the Neons have a recall or a Tcb on the relay?

starik, what year is your car?
Mine is 97. There is a recall on rad fan relay that applies to 97 as well but Dodge says there's nothing outstanding for my car. Either its not affected, or been done already.
Fuse looks OK.
After doing some reading, it may be that coolant temp sensor or PCM is bad. I could not find any diagnostic procedures for either component. I'm not excited about replacing parts just to see if it makes a difference.
If i want to replace coolant sensor AND i'm quick, do i still need to drain coolant?

is your car a dohc????
if so, then you dont have to drain the coolant, just make sure that the engine is cold...
if its a sohc then i dont know because im not positive where the sensor is

no its SOHC. the sensor is at the back of cylinder head, next to camshaft position sensor.
i figure the opening is pretty small, shouldn't loose too much coolant if i'm quick.
