the dealership is the only place that carries the filter for 96-99 neons.....
Autozone shows they carry one for the 96 for about $20. Don't see why it couldn't be used in the 98. Does SOHC or DOHC matter spud?
the difference is steel or plastic tank, 96 came with a steel tank in the early models like the 95's, and its $20 external filter, after that theyre all plastic tanks and the filter is internal.

well i have tried that before on ths cluster and it didnt work . however i just took it out again and resoldered a second time. i also pinched the four little clips on the outward side of the curcit board. the four clips that touch the four prongds that stick like and inch off the back of the spedo motor. i drove it around the drive way and it seemed to work. maybe you can add that to the repair FAQ. well thats one problem solved and i just gota figure out the motor . thnx for your help
