Question smec low voltage?

My 91 ram has a 318 engine. Acts as if the hall effect is faulty. Post #1 of the connecter should be receiving at least 11 volts with key on, engine not running. I check my meter at the battery first and got 12.2 volts but at the connecter I only get 8.8 volts. I followed the wire back to the smec and still only got 8.8 volts. My garage installed a new smec temporarily and it did not help. A while later I replaced it with another one, still the same. I would like to know what wire provides the 12 volts to the smec, can anyone help with where I might get this information. I wonder if there could be a poor ground , again I wouldn't know which wire. Many have tried to find the problem, dealer etc. This is a great truck and I am the original owner, I would love to have it run the way it used to!!!

It would be better to only post a problem once rather than multiple times. Multiple posts create confusion. Thanks.

Here is the double post I commented on. I hope you take this as constructive criticism and not as a mean spirited one. I am only trying to help. I have seen comments that were taken the wrong way and it got really ugly really fast.

Sounds like the problem I'm having now. What did your problem turn out to be?

Faceman75; this thread was continued at the below link but the original poster, brucris, either never solved it or didn't tell us what was finally wrong.
