Hello all.
Price isnt as much an issue as ease of use and results, I've never used a paint sprayer but i've painted countless things with rattlecans.
Im going to need some advice from you guys whenever i get started on the paint no matter if i decide to rattlecan or go with the sprayer.
1) how much sanding do i need to do?
2) should i use a primer if so should i sand it?
3) how many coats of paint and should i sand between coats?
retreads huh? I never thought of that. I dont like the sound of exploding tires do treadwrights have a bad rep or something? $105 for the guard dog (formerly MTG) seems like a real fare price.
Behind the seat i found a couple hundred jc whitney catalogs so she must have been a pretty cool chick. haha
btw i've been doing my digging on the treadwright tires and they seem to get great reviews actually i couldnt find a single bad review from anyone who actually owned them, they will definetly be a consideration before a purchase tires.
Im debating on going ahead and getting 33's, i wonder how much if any rub i will get? Prob just stick with the 31's but if i got 33's i wouldnt have to replace them after i lift it. The problem is that it may be several months to a year before i put the lift on and i want to drive it some this winter/spring.

A side note about tires . . . I just picked up some 33x12.5x15s for a buddy with a bronco, and the tires on my truck looked taller than them . . . strange.

The above two threads would be good info for painting.

i would never put retread tires on my truck. when they go they really go. lots of damage can be done if/when the tread separates from the tire. if it was a strictly off road vehicle that never sees highway speeds i might consider recaps but at hiway speeds things go bad very quick. i know even the trucking company i work for will not run recaps.
Just a couple of stories on the color pink. One day my son came home from the mall with a pink polo shirt. I couldn't help it, I had to question his motives and he said, "Dad, I make pink look good and besides chicks really like it." Good enough for me.
Then there was the time I introduced myself to my neighbor with a bad *** pink Jeep. I asked him if it was his wife's vehicle and he said, "No, why??" No reason... LOL
You never know, it could have Daisy Duke's vehicle. mmmmmm....Catherine Bach

Btw your truck looks good!!! a quick question about rolling on rustoleum, why not just use their rattle cans? to me (a novice) it seems like you would get similar results and have to sand a lot less. Im sure there is something im missing...
Like i said, great info in those threads and both paint jobs seem to be right in line with what im shooting for. I've still got a ton of questions but i wont bog the board down with them now, ill wait until i get closer to painting.

one of the biggest baddest trail rides i've ever seen was an old ford panel truck with a big block and about a yard of lift. It was hot pink with white interior and rims. haha. The guy said it started off as a build for his daughter to drive to school (shock value!) but it ended up out growing the little girl.
