Default needing a bit of advice

I will be ready to list my neighbor's truck soon. If anyone has any information or ideas about value I could certainly use some help.
The old truck sat outdoors for several years and as a result has sun damage inside and out.
It starts and runs fairly smothly and the tranny shifts well but clunks into reverse. At almost 90K miles it probably still has some useful life even though it is ugly. It is the 1986 Ram 150 Royal SE. There is minor surface rust but no damage. The body is almost dent free. Anyone want to venture a guess? I have no idea about this but I want to get all I can for it as my neighbor is now in a nursing home and in need.
Thanks,
Lee
yes I am really old.

Sand the rust and you could get 2 grand for it down here.

I'd say that's fair. Or leave the rust, so people know EXACTLY what they are getting, depending on how bad it is. Somewhere between $1000 and $3000 sounds resonable from not seeing it.

i think $3000 might be a bit too high if it has rust. if the truck could be insured and plated without any work i would say it is worth about $1500-$2000. if it just runs and would require a bit of work to get back on the road i would say it is about $1000 or less and if it was not running it would be worth about $500-scrap value unless it has a very clean solid body.

Thanks for the input!
The rust is not deep at all.
It has no structural rust, just surface rust as the paint has wasted away in the sun. It has good brakes and good power but I still have to get the turn signals working. I suspect a bungled trailer wiring job.
I think it will make a great fixer upper for someone who wants to refurbish the interior and exterior and have a great old truck.

You might want to mention where you live (just the city and state). Maybe someone on here might want the truck or know someone that does.

Good Idea. I live in East Texas and just might be able to put my bike in the back and deliver. (Of course it's not riding weather up north of here).
My town is Yantis on SH 154 25 miles south of Sulphur Springs,Tx.

if you are in Texas i think you might be lucky to get $1000 for it but aiming a bit higher does not hurt. it allows the other person to try talking you down a bit. i know someone on another forum got a 93 4x4 ramcharger 318 magnum for $610. it needs a bit of work but the thing looks like a solid base to start with. it ran and after topping up the transmission fluid it shifted through the gears when he got it.

Dude, I still say $1500 if it runs well and the interior isn't too bad.
Hell, I paid $6500 for my Ram...$1500 for the 76 D200 project i have...
