Default Li'l Red Express

How can I tell for sure that a claimed LRE truck is really a LRE? There's a local ad for a 79 Li'l Red Express with a good price. Maybe too good of a price. Is there a VIN character that indicates it? Or other things to look for? I know there have been many clones built.
Thanks.

The GVWR is a good way, Dodge increased it to get away from the emission aspect so they could gain a little more power on the half ton platform. it was 6,050lbs.

Check out lilreddad.com seems to have allot of into. I've seen 3 around me for sale in the last 3 years. 2 non running 1 was going for $4,800 had 90% of the engine apart, and all the wood in the bed was rotted. The 2nd needed some carb. Work to run, and the wood in the bed was redone, it was going for $6,800. Both were in dire need of paint. Just found another looks to be almost restored going for $9,800. I've wanted one for a very long time, I could have bought 1 with the money I got in my 91 d150 short bed with a 360 mag. Swap. Paid $500 for the truck and I surpassed that 10x over with just the engine alone. Bahahahaha, but it won't be a little red clone. It'll be a 1 and only when i'm done. I hope you find 1, and enjoy it!!!!
