Default HELP!!!

I have a 1988 dodge ram-50 and I was going down the road and I kept hearing a crackling noise. I pulled up to a red light and my truck died. Now when I try to start it up I hear a hard knock down close to the oil pan. Some people have told me that I have bent a rod. Some people have told me that I have broke my timing chain and some people have told me that I have twisted a bearing. Can someone who help me so that I dont get burnt up by a garage.

[align=left]the only way to find out for sure is to remove the pan and timing chain cover inspect the damage dont run it any more though all those issues can make the situation worse by running. if its a bent connecting rod youd be better off rebuilding it same with anything else internal if its a timing chain replace the chain and correct timing hopefully it didnt cause any internal damage.

Default RE: HELP!!!

Usually it will cause damage when the chain breaks. Valves hit pistons and snap off, bend, etc.
