My brother has a '88 Ram with an auto tranny and for some reason or another it does not want to down shift while going uphill. I know this is pretty vague but it is all the information I have to give. Any help will be much appreciated. This is his daily driver

 

So it doesn't even act like it is trying? If it acts like it wants to but just won't check for llinkage bind or see if the cable is broke or loose. If not i say the tranny is bad.

What about jsut driving along flat, will it downshift then. If so i can't really a say what might be wrong.
