Default Speedometer / Odometer Problem on my 92'

My odometer has stopped working on my 92' D150 but the speedometer still works. Any ideas what can be wrong to allow this to happen? I've had problems in the past with the speedometer sometimes not working when you start out and then a few miles down the road it would start working. I had the wiring harness to the transmission replaced a couple of years ago when the speedometer completely stopped working and that seemed to take care of the problem for a while. I know there is a sensor on the transmission and it's not a cheap part so I kinda like to be sure if that's the problem. Thanks in advance for your help.

Default RE: Speedometer / Odometer Problem on my 92'

My odo hasn't worked since i bought my truck a little over a year ago, and my speedometer acted up like that, it ended up being the speed sensor in the rear of tranny case, works fine but odo is still screwed. I tried removing gauge to see if the cable for odo was disconnected and it doesn't have one. Speedometer has 3 prong plug on it and gauge comes out in one part and then plugs into three wholes in dash. I guess you would hve too get it recalibrated or find one that did work, but then the milage would be incorrect.
