Default Exhaust question

I am putting a new exhaust on my truck within the next couple of months and noise is not a restriction, just need to be within law. I don't want them to pull my truck over every day for "nosie". I was going to go straight back to under bumper duals with chrome tips. But i thought about 3 inch stainless to about midway between where the bed starts and where the real wheel well starts. No tips just a big 3 inch exhaust sticking out about 1 1/2". Kinda like those pro stock guys but instead on a truck. I also thought about running Cherry bombs extremes but they are single inlet dual outlet. I only need two ends, not four. And i don't want to run thrush or cherry bomb glasspacks because they sound like **** when the glass start blowing out. Muffler suggeations?I need something that will be loud when i get into it but won't drone when i am on highway at 55-60 MPH. I also would like to have a good gurgle at idle.Another questionwith a O2 sensor could i put it in one side of the duals and be O.K? I took unplug it once and the engine started pourin smoke and smelled like it was lean all the time. Any Suggestions? Open too all. Like I siad noise not a problem just don't like droning at 55 on highway. Will a big exhauist loose low end tourque on my low compression Magnum 5.2L? Pluseveryone is worried about not being able to hear while they are ridingin it. But like i told them, it's my ****ing truck and all you need to hear is that sweet V8 playing it's symphony. 1992 Magnum 5.2L no mods D150 Ram.

I wouldn't go any bigger than 2 1/4" with a basically stock engine.

You can loose low end torque with big tube exhaust,go with a flowmaster with 2 1/4 duals with 3+" tips, the large tips will allow the exhaust to expand and give you a deep sound at the back.

How can I get my 1987 318 to sound really loud without it losing power?

H or X pipe, your choice and either one can improve the sound.
A loud exhaust may actually hurt performance.
2 1/4" into flowmasters with expantion pipes(boom tubes)out back.

I was thinking of a cherrybomb with 3" tips. Would this hurt performance? Or what about straight pipes.

I personally would not use straight pipes,it will hurt performance and it will promote that droning sound.

Cherry bombs are the worst for droning. Save your money up for a good set of magnaflows.
