90 W150 wont go into 4x4
I recently bought a W150 4x4 with the 360 in it, I got it for cheap cause the 4wheel drive wont engage, I looked at a few other posts about there being a bad vacuum possibly something about the CAD system, I have yet to check that system. I pulled the front diff cover and there was no shavings, I lifted the front axle and spun both front wheels, there was no movement in the front drive shaft. In side the front diff only the passenger side had effect, meaning something spun inside when the wheel moved (passenger side) but no movement when the driver side was spun. Hard to explain, I'm not much on the technical lingo, Anyways My question is; does the vacuum system engage the hubs? Would installing warn locking hubs possibly fix my problem? Any info would help, thanks!
Well I figured out why my 4 wheel drive wasn't working, in the axle there is a vacuum operated slide that engages the front axle, the fork that applies pressure was unable to engage, this being due to the lack of two tiny plastic clips,(The clips (2) just clipped on the end of the fork) cost me $5.20 from the dodge dealer.(Hooraw a cheap fix for once) Fixed it right away, however it has a tendency to kick out of 4x4 now due to the vacuum Diaphragm & slide is a little rough.
