Default 2X4 to 4X4 help

I've got a 93 d250 diesel with a 5-speed manual. I'm gonna make it a 4X4 one way or the other. Any advice or know a good place to look for parts or a donor truck? Also, does anyone know if the frames are the same besides the front subframe for the 2wd coils?

I would look for a 4x4 frame and change your running gear and body over onto it, probably the cheapest and easest way.

Thanks for the help, but mine is ext. cab and its hard to find one around here. I can find alot of regular cabs, so I guess I'll just modify the frame if I have to. Thanks

Oh it can be done if you can gather the parts you need. It will take some creative skills, and a working knowledge of building with metal. There is a lot to say so if you want, send me a PM and I will get your contact info from you and give you a shout. I am working 5 (12 hr) days and 10 on sat. for the next two weeks, just tell me when the best time to call you is and I will as soon as I can.

Are you going for about stock height or are you planning on lifting it, what size tires do you plan to run?

Your big ticket items are:
1. a Dana 60 front, don't even mess with a weak dana 44!! Been there done that!!
2. a 4x4 tranny or you could find a divorced 205 t-case from an older model dodge
3. 1/4" thick plating, maybe a 36" piece of 4"x6" tubing,
4. if the front gears don't match the rear end, you will need a set of gears.
5. You will need a set of front 1-Ton leaf springs. (since you have the diesel engine)
6. a 4x4 steering box possibly, and draglink.

The best thing would be to have a friend that has a 4x4 Dodge truck around your year model (they are about all the same though) and use it to go by while you are building/converting yours. Then you can see how things need to be laid out!!
