318 misses while idling..Davis Unified Ignition?
My '85 Ram's 318misses a little while idling, and has done so since I bought it in 1997. I never addressed the problem because I never meant to have it this long...but now I can't part with it. I recently put in a rebuilt 318 and a rebuilt carburetor....and the idling problem still exists.
I started trouble-shooting the ignition system and found a problem with the pick-up coils in the distributor, when a friend of mine suggested that I put in a performance distributor...namely, a Davis Unified Ignition distributor. It sounds good: more spark, wider plug gaps, more horsepower, better idling, and you can replace the whole old ignition system with a distributor that only requires a hot lead.
Does anybody have any good/bad experiences with the Davis Unified Ignition systems? or other aftermarket ignition systems?
