Default D-100 and D-150

Hello
I am new to the 1st gen rams, I have a 1st gen dakota.
I am considering purchansing a 1985 Dodge ram to restore.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the D-100 and the D-150, also what transmission they used?
Thanks for all the help.

D100 is a standard 1/2 ton truck. D150 was a bit heavier (suspension wise). Pretty much you had the D100, D150, and W150's... (in the 1/2 ton range that is) As for the tranny used. If you mean Automatic, they used the A727 which IMO is the best Auto tranny dodge made.
