Default Steering box interchange?

Just realizedthe steering box is bad on my '81. Are the box's interchangeable, or do I have to get a truck one?
It's a manual box, andI wouldn't mind a little quicker ratio, if I can find one in a RoadRunner or something.
I already tried the adjustment, and it still has too much slop in it.

Don't think they'll swap. Car boxes mount inside the frame. Call Firm Feel. See what they have. Thought you were doing the spindle swap? Gives you a faster ratio. But the faster ratio of the spindles might make manual a real bear to turn. You just doing control arms and springs?

I found out the car boxes turn the wrong way.
For now I just cut the front coils, don't have a lot of cash right now, so no spindle swap.I'm checking into boneyards for a used box, and I'll try to get the pump and all.
Apparently the boxes were the same from '73 to '93.

Not so. There are 2 different ratio boxes. One is 4 full turns lock to lock the other is 3 1/2. Thats what the guys at steerngear says...

Is the 4X4 box the same? My neighbor has a rotted out '85 4spd 318. He told me to get any parts I need before he sends it to the crusher.
Guess I'll go see him.

Checked a couple parts sites, looks like '80-'93 W-D 100 to W-D 300 are the same box.
My guess in the different ratio's would be due to manual vs power box.

It's pretty rough, I don't think the bumpers are any good, but I didn't pay attention to the trim. It has a newer, still painted black LF fender, that the bumper pushed back into a little.
Anything special you're looking for?

Alright, I'll try to see him this weekend, and see what kind of deal I can work out with him.
Pretty sure the bench is crap, someone rammed a pipe through the back window into the dash, but the side panels may be OK.
I'll let you know.
