Default changing gear ratio

Now that my engine work is all done (hopefully) time to do something about this horrible 2.76 rear end. What parts am I going to need to bring to the shop? Just the ring & pinion set and an install kit?

This is what I'm looking at

Chrysler 8.25" 3.73 Ring and Pinion $232.89
1976+ Chrysler 8.25" Overhaul kit $73.61
$250 for labor

I'm actually teetering between the 3.55 and the 3.73 gears. This truck's main job is to haul about 4500lbs of boat around the state so I need a compromise between power and rpms on hilly back roads and interstate highways. I'm leaning towards the 3.73 though.

Where do you live? I need a 2.76 rear, my 3.55 is on the way out. I'd reccomend a 3.73 purely because you say you are in hilly terrain.

Pretty sure Ive got an 8.25 not the 8.75.

Casting #3723599

I'm guessing it's the 2.76. I cant read the tags and the drive shaft fell well short of 3 turns when I spun a tire twice.

I'm in mid Missouri. The truck only has 25K miles on it so the rear should be in great shape but I'm only looking to swap the gears, not the whole thing if I dont have to.

You most likely have the 8.25.
The 8.75 uses a third member, the 8.25 has the cover plate.
its not a 9.25?

Anyone know if an 8.25" axle from a late jeep cherokee will fit my truck? The local junkyard has a bunch of 3.55s.

Thats a good old 8.25 in the pic there.

I'm keeping mine and adding 3.90 or 4.10 gears and a posi unit to tow.
