Default Look at what I`ve got

After all the months of talking about it, here is my parts list: Edelbrock 600 manual choke carb, Edelbrock performer intake manifold, Mopar Performance purple cam 450/455 @ 268/272, Edelbrock double roller timing set, Holley fuel pressure regulator and pressure gauge, and Mr. Gasket gasket set. Plus I am going to do a little port and polish on the heads and intake myself. By the end of the month I hope to hear it run.

I will as soon as I get it running. I hope to start on it next weekend. I hope it will have a nice lope. I realize that the cam and carb are a little big for what I am doing, but that leaves me some room for aftermarket heads a few years in the future.

I hate to be a kill joy, but it won't. Lift under .500" and duration under 290 are smooth idling cams. My '51D-100has a '77 360, .040" over with KB 10.7:1 hypers (adjusted forCC size) and an Isky 264 megacam (.450"/264*), and there's no lope at all. Runs real good, though.

The pistons are coming back out this winter to get re-ringed with cast rings (F*$%ing chromoly crap!), and I'll be putting Edelbrock heads on with an Isky .505"/292*.

I'm stuck on body work right now because it's cheap but once I get to the engine work on my truck (gotta find another job first, extremely hard for me right now thanks to the slow economy) I'm thinking of an Isky Cam myself. I've had my eye on the 280-HL, that's a .465/280 cam with a "lopey idle". I'm more into putting in a cam for the sound than anything else, I may use the performance once in a while but with my truck being a DD I won't be flooring it everywhere.

You may be right, my point of reference is the `87 my brother had a few years back. It had a light lope, but he didn`t have the papers for the cam. The previous owner had the motor work done, but he said it was like a .300 lift. We will find out whenI get it installed in a few weeks.
