87 d100 tranny?

my friend has a 87 d100 with the 318 in it what transmission would be in that ??? also where is a cheap place to get a toque converter for it thats the main problem is were having trouble finding one

If its a 3 speed then it should be a 727.

It could also be a 904.

727 has a bulge in the pan in the dipstick area. 904 doesn't. Early non lockup converters won't fit either.

it was the same tranny that was in most of the 318s cars and trucks

My 87 came with the lock up converter and the 904 tranny. I think they may call it a different number with the lock up.
