Angry broke a break line

well I replaced both wheel cylinders with out problems but, heres the real problem.

The first line I removed(on the left rear) the line snapped off close to the thread fitting. So I guess it was rusty there. The right line came off with out problems. Now heres my idea to fix it. Take some new line with a new threaded connector double flare the end and cut a little bit off more of the old line and join the two with a compression fitting. Sound good? I do need to know what size the line is. 3/16?? 1/4?? Or is it metric??

I think it's 1/4", but you're better off replacing it all the way to the tee at the end of the hose. If it was rusty in one place, it's rusty in others.

you can also buy a flaring tool, so if you arent able to change the broken one you can slid on a new connector and re-flare it and hook a new line to that one.
