Default aftermarket preformance

I was watching horse power tv and they did a show on cheap ways to improve fuel miles, torque etc.

One of the upgrades they did was an aftermarket cold intake set up, from spectre performance. They used a low profile tbi cap, with a 3 in. cold air intake that bolted down on the side inner fender.

My ram's fresh air hose from the round air cleaner has a huge hole burned in it. I was wondering if its better to upgrade that area to improve its breathing?? I do like the round air cleaner but, would it better to find a new air intake hose and or improve its breathing??

Also, they changed all the fluids out and used royal purple syn. for oil, the diff, and an antifreeze additive. I am confused they said its better for older engines. They had a 90' camaro with almost 100k miles and they go from dino oil to syn. I always thought a higher mileage engine needed dino oil, otherwise the syn would leak through the gaskets?? Wouldnt that clog passage ways too??

i dont think a CAI intake will help these badboys. not much anyhow. Airflow isnt the bottleneck on these, and one thing ive never really understood is how burning denser (more) air takes less gas.

You could get rid of the TBI setup. MPI is the way to go with fuel injection. Or a good 4 barrel carb. But that wouldn`t improve your gas milage. And it wouldn`t be cheap either.

I wanted to keep the truck as stock as possible. If when I have more money I have a holley projection kit that i might install not sure yet, I like fuel injection due to not flooding etc.

If theres not a need to upgrade its breathing then, where can I get a new intake hose?

What about the royal purple?

well If I do that, I might as well buy a 1st gen cummins.

I fixed the air intake problem. Dryer exhaust hose works good.
