Towing and other stuff?
I have a 83 D150 225 slant six 4spd 2wd long box. How much could I tow with this truck. I load it down from the front to the back of the box, floor to bed rails, full of Sunday papers and all she does is sit level. She does not move very quick but when up to speed she moves along just fine. Also why do these trucks struggle to get above 55mph and stay there. Is there any remedy for the mph situation?
I had a 1980 D 100 with the same drive train. There was times I left it it direct instead of O/D because of the wind, and it didn't take a helluva lot of wind to drag it down. They were a pretty good running engine until the EPA came into the picture.
well sense your talking about speed here ill add this, i think my overdrive is not working and seems like i only have 3 gears, i think it should have 4 gears but mabe not, most i have gotten it to is around 60, never trust it to go anyfaster, its a 1991 dodge w150 318 5.2
I have gotten her up to about 75 without too much worry. I also was trying to figure out a way to bypass that air cleaner brain box as I want to clean up the engine compartment. How much can she tow? Thanks for the posts.

Well the old truck might be for sale if the deal with my new truck works out. He wants to trade me my 78 Caddy for a 70 C10 lowered with a 350cid. I may do it and if I do I have no need for two trucks. Do you think the Chevy will out pull the dodge? here are pics to compare to see if I should do the trade or not.
