Default New to the dodge truck world

Hello, Let me introduce myself, I am Scott. I just purhased a 1986 W150 that has a 360in it. The truck seems to have a bad oil pump, good pressure at start up but at idel when warm the factory gauge shows nothing. Is it possable to drop the pan and change the pump while still in the truck, Or is it better to just pull the engine and do a rebuild. The truck runs okay and has power, just worried about the oil pressure.

I am sure in the next few weeks ill have more questions, looking at putting the hooker dual exhaust kit on the truck from manifolds back, and maybe a 4 inch lift. getting ready to pull the diff covers to see what gears I have and do a filter change in the trans, I want to keep this truck for some time so thinking of getting a core 360 and rebuilding it then replacing the engine. What year 360 will fit is there a diffrence in the blocks for diffrent years, found a complete 400 BB truck in the local salvage yard here and thought of getting the engine and the required parts to just put the BB in the truck, but thinking the 360 will be strong enuph for the use I have instore for the truck,, Sorry so long of a post
hope to pick all of your brains here and get the truck to the point were i can drive it daily and have a nice ride.

Scott

Istalled the oil pressure gauge i just bought and its at 20 spi warmed at idle and 60 psi at startup. The 30-40 psi when driving in town, Little cheaper then a rebuild. Also found two plug wires that fell out of the distributor so fixed that also, Runs better, think there still is a carb issue.
