The one on the top of the housing was only about six inches long, and had some kind of plug in it that I broke. I'm thinking it's some kind of pressure release tube

Is that the breather tube for the front axle housing?

not sure? I found the actuator motor does work by applying vacuum to one side, then the other. However, when I tried to reroute the vacuum lines from the diaphram, to the transfer case actuator switch, I think I mucked something up. In 2WD i'm getting vacuum on one side, but when place in 4wd, I get no vacuum in either side. Does anyone have a routing diagram? Or know what the issue might be?
