Default Problem with 83 Ram starting

Ok so I have a 83 Ram D150 with a 318 2 barrel. When I first got it from my grandfather it ran great but for almost the last year it has had a problem starting. When I try to start it I have to crank it 4-6 times before it will start and when I get it started I have to stay on the gas or else it will kill. After it gets warmed up it runs fine and will start right when I turn the key the first time. But if I let it sit more than a few hours the engine will get cold and I will have the same problem. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help

Sounds like a choke problem. What kind of choke does it have?

Look inside the carb throat to see if the choke is closing like it should when it is cold.

Do you press the throttle at all or have you tried to?
Maybe choke.
Maybe the fuel is draining out of the fuel bowl.
