Default Freeze Plugs

I'm having a small, steady leak somewhere under the drive shaft directly under the serpentine belt...is there a freeze plug located there somewhere? Mechanic can see the evidence but only suspects the water pump which is directly aboive the drive shaft.

Thanks folks

Freeze plugs are down the sides of the block. If it is a freeze plug you should be able to see the water coming out and feel the wet as it runs down the block. Clean and dry any plugs you suspect and then put baby powder on the bottom edge of the plug. If it is leaking you can very easily see it.

There is a weep hole in the bottom of the water pump to let you know when the pumps seal is going but it is not directly above the drive shaft. This weep hole is under the snout of the pump that supports the shaft and bearing and seal. It is about 2 inches back from the bearing. Water can flow along under any pieces/parts so you may have to get up under the vehicle and even use mirrors to find the actual leak. With the engine off take a rag and clean off the underside of the pump housing. Run the truck till it gets warm and shut it off. Now run your clean dry hand under the water pump snout and feel for liquid. Any moisture will tell you the pump is seal is has failed.

good advice, I appreciate it.

its probably the water pump for it only drips when the truck is parked at night...it doesn't leak during a routine day of start & stop driving

Thanks
