Had me wondering too. As far as I know they had a carb. and mechanical fuel pump.
Throttle body injection came in 1988 on the 318 I believe.

yes it has a carb but it has a fuel control system for emissions on the air filter housing with two sets of wires plugged into it. when wires are unplugged from housing truck wont start. want to change intake manifold and carb. i need to know which wires in the harness can be jumped so truck will start.

I would not count on that 4 years stuff with the new powers that are being given to the EPA by these socialists.

I think you're talking about the lean burn system.
Does it say electronic spark control on that box on the air cleaner?
If it is, they are famous for going bad. That is a computer.

I changed my 87 5th ave over with the Mopar Performance Ignition kit about 6 years ago and have had no problems.
I beleive it is approved by the EPA as an authorized update. Best to check with your state or maybe a vendor.
