Default oil pressure drops at idle when engine warm

92 Dodge V-8 oil pressure drops and oil light comes on at idle. Engine sounds good, running 10w-30 in it now should I run a different weight in it for summer?

Thanks

10W-30 is fine. Just because the idiot light comes on does not mean you have low oil pressure. That is why they are called idiot lights. The problem could be the sending unit. You really need to check the oil pressure with a gauge to be sure.

Thank you. How do I check the oil pressure with a gauge?

Pull the sending unit which is just behind the intake back by the distributer and install a gauge. If you pull the sending unit and take it to the hardware store you can get the right size fittings and some teflon tape. A 100 PSI gauge is cheap and will work fine.
