Default Regarding ignition timing

So I rebuilt the heads on my truck after blowing the head gasket. This is the first time I've delved this far into the motor. I got it all put back together today and it ran, but rough, and when it started warming up, it died. I didn't have time to play with the distributor cap, but I had remembered the number one plug was facing directly forward. This is how I reinstalled the cap, but my questions is, I forgot to mark the location of the rotor I believes it's called, so I was thinking there was a possibility I installed the distributor 180 degrees out. Would it run at all if I did this? Or, is it more likely I just need to rotate the cap a few degrees one way or another to get the timing somewhat correct? I realize that I will need to use a timing gun later on to set the timing 100 percent. Thanks so much.

If it was 180 out it wouldn't run. Most likely just off several degrees.

thanks so much, i will mess with it soon, i'm so excited i can't contain myself, truck's been sitting for months, and it took forever for them to find me some heads that weren't cracked, apparently it's not the greatest casting in the world.
