Angry rear tail light wire nightmare

Well I figured out someone had a trailer pigtail spliced into the rear tail lights within the wire mess. Trying to figure out whats going on with the license plate tail light. On my truck its on the right side. According to the diagram its suppose to be on the left rear frame rail.

Then I have this old blue connector thats not even listed on the diagram with a red wire and brown/yellow wire. The diagram shows a green wire as well, I guess thats a ground but, I dont have a loose green wire.

the wires do run down the left side of the frame then it goes up and over where your spare tire is supose to be. do you have a multimeter? a multimeter is a great tool to have when you doing electrical and they are cheap to buy. you could check the wires for voltage. i don't think the the green wire is a ground but if you have a multimeter you could check.

have you tested the license plate light bulb? the license plate wires should not have been touched when they wire in a trailer pigtail.

I have never seen a factory blue electrical connector. They used black connectors so I think it is after market and would not be in a manual. Do you have the original lights in the bumper you are working with or are you looking to add something that is not there now?

thats part of the mess, one of the wires was cut. So only one wire is connected to the license plate bulb. The bumper is an aftermarket something like a ranchhand.
