Default Brake Switch help

In the past few days my tail lights have been staying on whenever i get out of the truck, and to get them off I have to pull up on the brake pedal then they turn off, well tonight that didn't work. So in the middle of the night, I was feeling around and the button that turns off the brake light isn't even touching anything so I propped stuff against the button to keep the brake light off for the night, but does anyone have any diagrams of how all that works down there? is there a spring or something? or did something get bent? thanks a bunch.

You can adjust the switch. Do you have speed control or not? The procedure is different for each.

The bracket that holds the switch has a screw half way up the bracket just above the switch. Loosen the screw and pull the switch away from the pedal arm. Push the pedal down by hand and let it return on its own. Do not pull it back. Slide the switch toward the pedal arm so you have .140 inch gap between pedal arm and plunger. Pedal must not move during the measuring process. Tighten the screw (82 inch lbs) and recheck clearance.
