1993 dodge runnig bad
i wish i had the truck here .i have it at the mech.when i took the tcase out it was running fine after i reinstall it.it starts doing all this i don't get it.i don't want to sound like a idiot can it get out of time with the tcase out?the reason i changed the distributor was because the screws for the cap broke in the distributor.i ran it on the trailer with the cap loose.at one time it ran good for 10 minutes and started to act up again.
The timing did not change while working on the transfer case but when you pull the distributor you must reset the timing. PERIOD. I cannot say that the timing is the only, or the original, problem but reseting the timing is a must. Once you know the timing is correct then you can trouble shoot any remaining problems.
This is the first you mentioned broken screws in the distributor. You asked about possible damage to the CPS because the tranny was not properly supported during the transfer case work. I would be more concerned about damage to the distributor and cap hitting the firewall due to its location in the back of the engine. This may have been when the screws broke. There may be internal damage to the distributor itself. Did you replace the distributor itself? If so where did you get the replacement distributor?

I am confused. Please explain "air intake valve on the back of the throttle body". For starters the 1993 360 didn't use a throttle body that I know of, they had the MPFI ( multi port fuel injection) system. The PCM does not adjust the timing, it controls the advance of the timing, but your base timing has to be mechanically set to the proper setting to start with. When you took it to the mechanic was it running OK when you got it back?
The PCM DOES control the timing, 100%, moving the distributor changes the fuel sync(which may be the problem?). Setting the fuel sync requires a high end scanner.
