i just want to give people an update on this. i managed to get the the dipstick tube out the other day when i went to check the oil levels. i guess the tube had started to work its way out of the engine block and thats why it didn't want to let the dipstick slide back into the the engine too easily.

Just order a Lokar universal tube, otherwise you will probably have to hit a junk yard or the dealer.

there was acutually no damage to the tube like i thought. all that was happening was the dipstick was getting caught on the way back into the engine because the tube had started working its way out of the engine block. i thought that i had bent it too much and put a kink in it. i did find some nice dipsticks and tube on e-bay for $20-$30 that i might consider in the future.

I know this is an older post but mine broke off completely at the block and need some advice. Its an 1987 model so its hard to get to between having to maneuver around the alternator and junk. Any advice?

If you have an old screw driver grind it to a point and use a small hammer to gently drive the point between the block and the tube in one spot. The tube will bend inward and get smaller in diameter and loose its grip on the block. Do this slowly a little bit at a time until you can grab it with needle nose pliers or a set of forceps and pull it out. You can also use a long thin steel rod if you have one.
