I get on average a combined of 10.5-11 mpg. This is an improvement of about a 1-1.5 mpg from when I first got the truck. (Downhill on the interstate I get around 14mpg) One of the things I did to increase mileage was simply changing my tires to a "lighter ply". Even after going up a size in diameter, it increased my milage.
When I made my original post, I had passenger car tires on the truck. A long wheel base truck which usually runs without anything in the bed tends to slip on the gravel driveways I encounter, mine included.
I have since replaced those tires, when they wore out, with a set slightly more aggressive. My milage now is roughly 15.3, 13, 14.4, 17.2, 13.6, 15.2, 12.4, 12.9.
