Default fuel level sender not working

I have a 1990 ram 150 with a 318 that i aquired from someone that let the truck sit for 4 or 5 years and subsequently the gas went bad and it gummed up the fuel pump assembly. I had no problem finding and replacing the fuel pump but cannot find the fuel level sending unit anywhere am wondering if anyone has tried aftermarket senders? I believe summit and jc whitney both have a universal sender 90 ohms . Anywho i was just wondering if anyone has tried either of these units. Thanx in advance.
